Lake Manyara National Park although small, the park is famous for its tree-climbing lions but also offers diverse picturesque flora and fauna from its Rift Valley Soda Lake dotted with flocks of pelicans ,migratory storks and pink flamingoes to sausage trees and wild mango trees and herds of elephant.The park is characterized with ground-water forest, acacia and mahogany woodland, lake and hot springs called Maji Moto, attracting Maasai giraffes, cape buffalos, gazelles, hippos, bushbuck, zebras, wildebeest and warthogs. Blue and Vervet Monkeys, troops of olive baboons, white and black colobus are seen jumping from tree to tree. Egyptian Mongooses, Cape clawless otter, Kirk's Dik-dik, Rock Hyrax and Klipspringer are residents here. Amazing, over 400 species of birds, mostly waders and migrants occur here; jacanas, gooses, ducks, hamerkop, spoonbill, shoebill, kingfishers, falcons, vultures, eagles among others. Mto Wa Mbu Village near the entrance is rural local market that is perfectly situated for a glimpse into indigenous Tanzanian tribes’ lifestyle. During market days, farmers from all over the region come together to show off their products, you will also get a chance to pick beautiful souvenirs.
